    LEE Kyunghwa

    LEE Kyunghwa is the editor and publisher of SEOUL&ANIMATOR. From 2004 to 2007, she worked on a variety of animation productions for theater and television. Since then, she has worked with numerous film festivals including the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (2008~2015), Busan International Film Festival (2008), Seoul Indie-AniFest (2009~present), Seoul Best of the Best Animation Festival (2015), KOC!ANI (2018),SIGGRAPH Asia (2020 & 2022) and Tent Film Festival in the metaverse (2021~2023). Currently, she serves as the programmer for the Seoul Indie-AniFest Asia Road Competition.

    CHOO Jinny Hyejin

    Jinny Hyejin CHOO studied animation and illustration in university and majored in animation production at Chung-Ang University’s Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film where she received her masters degree in 2010. She then received her Doctorate in Animation Theory and Content Production from Chung-Ang University, Seoul. She is currently a visiting professor in the School of Film, TV & Multimedia at Korea National University of Arts, lecturing on the theory and production of convergence content and interactive
    media art. Since 2000, she has served as program director and conference chair at PISAF, SICAF, and Siggraph Asia. She has also served as a non-standing member of the Korean Film Council. She is currently a programmer and producer at Seoul Indie-AniFest.

    CHOI Yujin

    Choi Yujin studied at Sungkonghoe University's Graduate School of cultural Studies and received her MA from the Department of Culture and Arts Management in 2007. She joined the Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association's executive committee in 2006 and became the General Manager of the committee in 2007. she was the Festival Manager of the Indie-AniFest festival committee until 2017 when she became the committee's festival director. In addition, she is currently involved in film screenings, distribution, education, and policy-making related to independent animations.

    SEO Saerom

    SEO Saerom studied animation at Ulsan Anione High School and Kaywon University of Art and Design. She created the 13-episode web series [World of Rare Animals] in 2019 and the short animation Carnivorous Bean Sprout in 2021. Her 2023 short animation [Swimming] won the award for best short at SciFian Festa. Currently, she is running CatClaw Studio together with long-time collaborator and director Bae Issac. She is also preparing a new music video and animation series.

    SEO Pyoungwon

    SEO Pyoungwon is a film director working in Seoul, creating both animations and live action films. He studied animation at Korea Animation High School where he made his graduation film [Road Kill] in 2017. In 2023, he won the Special Prize for Debut Film from Seoul Indie-AniFest for this film Getting Used to Loneliness. He has made a wide range of freelance work including the music video [If It Were a Dream] for Yun Seokcheol and the Gwanghwamun Digital Wall Exhibition. He is currently studying at the Department of Filmmaking in Korea National University of Arts School of Film, TV & Multimedia. He is also working on his film [Doraeji] with production support from NamDo Film Festival.

    LEE Sunghwan

    LEE Sunghwan was born in 1985. He attended Sunhwa Art School and majored in animation at Korea National University of Arts. In 2009, he co-founded Studio Shelter where he is currently an associate executive director. He directed a number of films including [Ah] (2011), [Cleaner] (2017), and [This Is Us] (2021). His recent work includes the VR animation Carving with Memories: [Ihyangjeong] (2022). He has been invited to numerous film festivals in Korea and abroad.

    LEE Hyejeong

    After studying graphic design, she founded TVCM and turned her passion into her career, exploring diverse methods and areas. Her work as an independent animation director began with her film [Going Well..] made as part of the Korea Creative Content Agency’s Creative Talent Program. Currently, she is working in the commercial industry while making her next short film.

    HWANGBO Saebyul

    HWANGBO Saebyul has enjoyed a long relationship with Indie-AniFest through her short animations. Until 2020, she produced the animated web series [Bonana, My Life Is Legend, and Failed Love Story], as well as the web drama [Start from Kiss], at Studio LuluLala with JTBC. Until 2023, she was involved with the acquisition of original IP and development of preliminary scenarios for TV drama adaptations until 2023.

    KANG Minji

    After graduating 2006, She started working on animations. She likes handwork systems including drawings on paper, stop-motion animation. She also enjoys making experimental films with mixed animation technologies. Her works won some awards were screened at domestic and international film festivals. She is working on Audio visual. With her graduate animation work [A Pimple] in 2006, she has created [A Piece of paper] (2008), [Myo-A] (2010), [Natural urban nature] (2011),[Souvenir Animation] (2013) and [Before&After] (2016), and her works won some awards were screened at domestic and international animation festivals and Audio-visual Festival.

    PARK Yuseon

    PARK Yuseon graduated from the Film & Animation Department at Hongik University and earned an MFA in Animation at the Korea National University of Arts. She is active in diverse fields from animation production and character design to illustration. She made the film [Blindness] in 2021 and [Don’t Die] in 2023.

    Jinny Hyejin CHOO

    Kim Kyeongbae

    He is an animation director who graduated from Kongju National University’s Cartoon and Animation department where he majored in animation. He made the [Seoulsori] music video in 2019. In 2022, he made the short animation [AMEN A MAN] which won the Debut Prize at Seoul Indie-AniFest and the Satoshi Kon Prize for Best Animated Short at Fantasia Film Festival. In addition, he made the 2D animated sequences in the TV drama [It’s Okay to Not Be Okay]. His other work includes the music video [Thunderous] for Stray Kids, aespa’s [ep2. Next Level] and Hanwha TV’s [Knowk Knowk] series.

    NOH Gyeongmu

    NOH Gyeongmu studied animation at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. Her 2021 film A Blue Giant won the jury special prize at the Jeonju International Film Festival. Her 2023 film [How to Get Your Man Pregnant] won best prize in the foreign short film competition at the Monterrey International Film Festival. After graduating, she made [Leenalchi x Hong Gil-dong Tiger’s Third Leg Dance] Video in collaboration with the Korean Film Archive. In addition, his commercial work includes animation for the Netflix documentary NCT 127.

    MO Eunyoung

    Programmer MO Eunyoung majored in filmtheory and animation theory. She was a writer for EBS programs such as CinemaParadiso and Anitopia as well as for numerous film columns in magazines and daily newspapers such as FILM2.0, DVD2.0, and KINO. MO Eunyoung has also worked as a programmer for Korean Film Archive Cinematheque KOFA for nine years, since it first opened. She currently works as a programmer and a programming consultant for events such as Seoul Indie-AniFest and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

    Professor at ChungKang Animation School, past director of Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association, past festival director of Seoul Indie-AniFest, Producer of Trailer with ChungKang College, producer of industry-university project's web drama [Amanza], published [30 Years of Blooming Independent Animation], Invited with an animated film [Children Borne In A Radish Field] at Hiroshima Animation SEASON, participated in the competition category at Ottawa Ottawa international Animation film festival with his film [SUBWAY], Invited with his animated film [Lost Box] at Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Awarded 1st SICAF [SUBWAY] Grand Prize, Best Director.

    MOON Sujin

    She graduated from the animation department at Korea National University of Arts in 2022. Her 2022 graduation film[Persona] won the grand prize in the student competition at Annecy International Animation Film Festival. It also received awards and screenings at numerous film festivals including Cannes Film Festival’s official competition and the student competition at Animafest Zagreb. She continues to explore emotions and imagery in her creative practice.

    IM Chaerin

    Director IM is a Korean animation director who works on experimental animation that explores social issues such as sex and gender with fine craftsmanship, materials, and techniques. In 2017, she received a bachelor's degree in design from Seoul National University College of Fine Arts, and a master's degree in experimental animation from California Institute of the Arts in 2020. The director's short animations [Flora] (2018), [Mate] (2019), and [Eyes and Horns] (2021) were invited to compete at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Animafest Zagreb, and Ottawa International Animation Festival. Her latest work [I am a Horse] (2022) won the special distinction prize at BIAF2022 and was invited to the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2023.

    KIM Boram

    She majored in Korean Modern Literature at Chungang University’s Department of Korean Language and Literature. She began her work as a documentary filmmaker with her feature-length documentary [Upo], [People in Wetland]. She directed the documentary For [Vagina’s Sake] which explores menstruation and women’s bodies. She also directed and produced the short films [A Silent Night and Noses on the Run]. Her most recent project is the feature-length documentary [A Table for Two] released in 2023.

    YEO Eun-a

    She is an animation director from Pohang, South Korea. She graduated from the Korean Academy of Film Arts in 2015. Beginning with her graduation film [Cocoon] (2015), she made the feature-length animation [Rose Motel] (2018), the web animation [Midnight Horror Cinema] (2020), and the short animation [A Long Alone] (2023). Her works have been awarded and screened at numerous domestic and international film festivals including Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Sakhalin International Film Festival, and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

    HONG Jun-pyo

    He graduated from the Animation Department at Korea National University of Arts. He is currently an animation director managing Studio Roomer, an animation production studio. His short animation [Across the Wind] won the Prize for First Flight at the 2013 Indie-AniFest. Since then, he has made a wide range of animation content including shorts, feature films, series, and advertisements. He directed the 2021 feature-length animation [Chun Tae-il: A Flame That Lives On], which won awards at numerous film festivals including the Star of Mirinae Prize in the feature-length competition at the 2022 Seoul Indie-AniFest, and the Contrechamp Jury Distinction at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

    PARK Dami

    She received her M.F.A. in animation from the Korea National University of Arts and goes by the pseudonym
    Puuung. In 2014, her project [Love Book], published on Naver Grafolio, shared a warm and empathetic story seen by a wide audience. Her illustration book was published in 10 countries and was well-received by readers around the world. Since 2017, she has been releasing her animation series via YouTube and SNS platforms, with over 8 millions followers. For over ten years, she has explored the shape of love in.

    JEONG Da-hee

    She is an animator director who graduated from the School of Film and Animation at Hongik University. Her
    graduation film The [Armpit Hair Girl] (2017) won the Grand Prize at the 2018 Indie-AniFest. She made the web animation [The Great Poop Girl Rina] (2020) which won the audience special prize in the Web Animation Competition at the 2020 Indie-AniFest. She also made the web animations [The Great Poop Girl] (2021) and The [Spectacle Spectrum] (2023).

    KIM Sangjoon

    He graduated from the computer art department at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2012. In 2016, he founded tadoh, a collaborative group for creators. In 2018, he made the short animation [The Wheel Turns],
    which won the grand prize in that year’s Sitges Film Festival. In 2022, he completed his short animation [Echo], which went on to win the Star of Indie Grand Prize at the 2023 Seoul Indie-AniFest. He is currently in production with his upcoming project, [Snail].

    LEE Yongbae

    He is starting an independent life after retiring from his professorship at the end of August 2024. At one time, he
    made short animations and worked on documentary productions. He was part of the Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association from the beginning and his passion has never cooled, so he is looking for new opportunities.

    LIM Mihyun

    She received her bachelor’s degree in composition from Yonsei University and her master’s degree in composition from Korea National University of Arts. Since 2010, she has worked as a composer, orchestral arranger, and music director for films, dramas, and animations. Her projects include films such as [Perfect Proposal], [Familyhood], [1987: When the Day Comes], [Miracle, Sinkhole], and [Yumi’s Cells: The Movie], as well as dramas such as [38 Task Force], [The Guest], [Sky Castle], [Be Melodramatic], [Yumi’s Cells Seasons] 1 and 2, and [My Liberation Notes].

    CHANG Hyung-yun

    He majored in animation at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. He received recognition for his short animation [The Letter] (2003). His shorts [Wolf Daddy] (2005) and [A Coffee Vending Machine] and Its [Sword] (2007) won awards at numerous film festivals. He made the feature-length animations [The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow] (2014) and [Ireesha, The Daughter of Elf-king] (2019). His live-action short film [Quitting My Destiny] (2020) was screened in the Korean Competition for Shorts at the Jeonju International Film Festival, and he has been making both animations and live-action films since then.

    Sarina NIHEI

    Sarina Nihei is a freelance animation director from Japan. Being obsessed with Estonian animation, she decided to pursue a career in animation. She is a graduate of London's Royal College of Art. Her graduation film from the RCA, [Small People with Hats], won prizes at festivals around the world including the Ottawa International Animation Festival, Anim’est, and British Animation Awards. Specialising in hand-drawn animation, she makes music videos and short films.
