LEE Kyunghwa
LEE Kyunghwa is the editor and publisher ofSEOUL&ANIMATOR. From 2004 to 2007, she worked on a variety of animationproductions for theater and television. Since then, she has worked withnumerous film festivals including the Seoul International Cartoon and AnimationFestival (2008~2015), Busan International Film Festival (2008), Indie-AniFest(2009~present), Seoul Best of the Best Animation Festival (2015), and KOC!ANI(2018). Currently, she is the co-chair for the SIGGRAPH Asia 2022 ComputerAnimation Festival and the programmer for the Seoul Indie-AniFest ASIA ROADCompetition.

CHOI Yujin
CHOI Yujin studied at SungkonghoeUniversity’s Graduate School of Cultural Studies and received her MA from theDepartment of Culture and Arts Management in 2007. She joined the KoreanIndependent Animation Filmmakers Association’s executive committee in 2006 andbecame the General Manager of the committee in 2007. She was the FestivalManager of the Indie-AniFest festival committee until 2017 when she became thecommittee’s Festival Director. Since 2010, she has also worked in thedistribution of independent animations through the AniSEED project, and she iscurrently involved in film screenings, distribution, education, and policy-makingrelated to independent animations.

Jinny Hyejin CHOO
Majored in Animation and Illustration andreceived an MFA in Art and Film from the Graduate School of Advanced ImagingScience, Multimedia, and Film, Chung-ang University, Seoul in Korea and aDoctorate in Animation Theory and Contents Producing from the same universityin 2015. She is a guest professor at School of Film, TV & Multimedia, theKorea National University of Arts. Beginning with Pucheon International StudentAnimation Festival in 2000, she was involved in Seoul International CartoonAnimation Festival, Gwacheon SF Film Festival, and is currently working forSIGGRAPH ASIA 2020 as the conference chair and Indie-AniFest as a programmer.She is currently a programmer at Seoul Indie-AniFest, producer for the RelayAnimation Project, and a member of the Korean Film Council.

CHUNG Huibin
She graduated from the animation departmentat Korea Animation High School in 2011 and received her BFA from the characteranimation department at CalArts in 2015. Currently, she is working on a shortindependent animation in Korea. In 2019, she participated in the Korea CreativeContent Agency’s Creative Talent Program and made the web animation [Minseo andHer Grandpa]. In 2022, she received funding from the SBA Production SupportProgram to complete her short animation [Dona on the Island].

Kristin JI
Studied English Language and Literature atChung-Ang University, and received her MA degree with the thesis 「Cinema of Ang Lee as a Popular Auteur」 atthe Graduate School of Arts of Chung-Ang University. She had served as aprogrammer in Chungmuro International Film Festival (2007-2008) and SeoulInternational Family Film Festival (2010-2011). She was a jury member of theGrandOFF World Independent Film Award(2014-2016) in Poland. She has worked atthe Asiana International Short Film Festival as a programmer from 2013 to 2021.

Gyuri Cloe LEE
After Gyuri Cloe Lee graduated from RhodeIsland Design School with a BFA in Film/Animation/Video in 2017, she startedher own studio called Petting Zoo Studio and has been working as a freelancerever since. She has collaborated with many musicians such as NMIXX, Shinee, TheBoyz, Park Moonchi, Taeyong, and Sole, as well as brands like Converse,Häagen-Dazs, to name a few. Her films have been selected to screen at numerousfilm festivals, and in 2016, [The Cycle of Mija, the Heartbroken], her studentfilm, received the Yoo Kwang-Sun special prize at Indie-Ani Fest. In 2022, shetaught Digital 2D Animation class for a semester at Hongik University.

LIM Yong-gi
He graduated from the animation departmentat Korea National University of Arts in 2019. In 2021, he made the animation[Work! Inside Friends]. In 2022, he was an animation producer at SandboxNetwork where he was in charge of planning and production for YouTubeanimations. He is a short animation mentor for the Korea Creative ContentAgency’s Creative Talent Program in 2023. In addition, he continues to makeanimations for a wide range of online platforms.

JO Yeseul
She graduated from Chungkang College ofCultural Industries. For her graduation film, she made the short animation [TheGame of All]. In 2021, she made the short animation [Oolang Oolang]. She iscurrently making her new film, a mid-length animation titled [Find It!Destiny].

KIM Kyeongbae
He is an animation director who graduatedfrom Kongju National University’s Cartoon and Animation department where hemajored in animation. He made the [Seoulsori] music video in 2019. In 2022, hemade the short animation [AMEN A MAN] which won the Debut Prize at SeoulIndie-AniFest and the Satoshi Kon Prize for Best Animated Short at FantasiaFilm Festival. In addition, he made the 2D animated sequences in the TV dramaIt’s Okay to Not Be Okay. His other work includes the music video “Thunderous”for Stray Kids, aespa’s “ep2. Next Level,” and HanwhaTV’s “Knowk Knowk” series.

MOON Sujin
She graduated from the animation departmentat Korea National University of Arts in 2022. Her 2022 graduation film[Persona] won the grand prize in the student competition at AnnecyInternational Animation Film Festival. It also received awards and screeningsat numerous film festivals including Cannes Film Festival’s officialcompetition and the student competition at Animafest Zagreb. She continues toexplore emotions and imagery in her creative practice.

MO Eunyoung
Programmer MO Eunyoung majored in filmtheory and animation theory. She was a writer for EBS programs such as CinemaParadiso and Anitopia as well as for numerous film columns in magazines anddaily newspapers such as FILM2.0, DVD2.0, and KINO. MO Eunyoung has also workedas a programmer for Korean Film Archive Cinematheque KOFA for nine years, sinceit first opened. She currently works as a programmer and a programmingconsultant for events such as Seoul Indie-AniFest and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

LEE Hyejeong
After studying graphic design, she foundedTVCM and turned her passion into her career, exploring diverse methods andareas. Her work as an independent animation director began with her film [GoingWell..] made as part of the Korea Creative Content Agency’s Creative TalentProgram. Currently, she is working in the commercial industry while making hernext short film.

JEON Jinkyu
After graduating from Animation at theKorea National University of Arts, he worked as a senior animator at the StudioShelter and completed a master's degree in animation at the Tokyo University ofArts, He participated in the animation production of the Kakao drama [AMANZA]and received orders for various tasks such as Cheil and Yokohama Blue Line.Representative works include [Material Girl], [The Death Vendor], [The House ofLoss], of which The [House of Loss] won the 2023 Kichijoji Film Festival GrandPrix, Production IG, and Studio 4℃. It has been invited to 22 awards and morethan 60 film festivals, Grand Prix the FLANIMATIONFILMFEST and best studentawards at the AniFilm, Tirana and Spark.

Mystery Curtain
Shegraduated with degrees in music and creative writing from Dongduk Women’sUniversity, as well as a master’s degree in new media music from SangmyungUniversity. Since 2009, she has been a singer and songwriter working under thealias “Mystery Curtain.” She has released three albums and multiple singles andcompilations. In addition, she was the music director for the short animation[An Outing], the feature animation [The Dearest], and numerous videos and shortfilms.

LEE Moonjoo
She is an animation director whose active career began with the 1996short animation [Crack]. Her works, including the films [40], [Mr. Maeu theLittle Clown], [MICHELLE], [My Rusty Dusty Head], and [Hide and Seek], have been shown at awide range of film festivals in Korea and abroad. In addition, she is alsoexpanding her work into other areas including performances, exhibitions, andmedia facades.

LEE Jonghoon
He graduated from the Department of Animation at Korea Animation HighSchool in 2007, and the Department of Animation at Korea National University ofArts in 2016. From 2015 to the present, he has been the co-CEO and a directorat the animation studio VCRWORKS, where he has worked on advertisements, musicvideos, campaigns, original content and works in various other areas. Hedirected the short animations [My Ball] and [The Starry Night]. His 2022mid-length animation [Architect A] was selected as the opening film for the2022 Seoul Indie-AniFest. The film also won the grand prize for Best AnimatedShort Film and the Audience Award for Ages 8+ at the New York InternationalChildren’s Film Festival.

Jeremy CLAPIN
Jeremy CLAPIN studied at the Paris Écoledes Arts Décoratifs. Graduating in 1999, he began working as a graphicartist/illustrator as well as directing advertisements and music videos. At thesame time, he began directing animation shorts that progressively lead him to aleading position in contemporary animation. [A Backbone Tale] (Une HistoireVertébrale) in 2004, [SKHIZEIN] in 2008 which obtained unprecedented success(over 90 prizes in festivals including those of Cannes Annecy and Clermont).
In 2012, he started work on his firstfeature-length animation film, [I Lost My Body] (J’ai perdu mon corps). In2019, this became the first feature-length animation film to win the Grand Prixde la Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival.

Katja MORAND
Katja MORAND is a curator and programmerfor film festivals and cinema. She is head of programme of chinoworb (Cinema inWorb) and head of programme at Luststreifen Film Festival in Basel, as well asa programmer for Fantoche – International Animation Film Festival Baden. She isalso a member of the board of Balimage - association for Film and Media arts inBasel. In her earlier activities she worked as co-festival director ofSchweizer Jugendfilmtage, in promotion and in film acquisitions for Look Now!Film distribution. She was also in charge of project coordination andcommunication at SWISS FILMS and has worked at the Solothurner Filmtage.

CHO Hanna
She is an animation director who also drawsand writes for comics on the side. Having first dreamt of becoming a comicartist, she graduated from Korea Animation High School’s Comic CreationDepartment and studied abroad at CalArts where she majored in characteranimation. After graduating, she began her career as a story artist for SonyPictures Animation’s [The Mitchells vs. The Machines]. Thereafter, she worked asa story artist for a number of theatrical and TV animations including [We BareBears], [Inside Job], and [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem]. She continuesto work in animation direction and still loves comics. She enjoys seeing andcreating new things.

OH Sung-yun
He graduated from the Department of Painting in the College of FineArts at Seoul National University in 1986. He is the CEO and a film director atOdolttogi Animation Film Studio. In 2011, he took on the role of directing [Leafie: A Hen into the Wild] which won theBest Animated Film Award at the 5th Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the bestfamily film award at the Sitges Film Festival. He co-directed the 2019feature-length animation [Underdog] which won the Best Animation Awardat the Silk Road International Film Festival.

KANG Sang-wook
He is the CEO of Media Castle, a distributor specializing in JapaneseIP content. He graduated from Chung-Ang University. While working in the mobilecontent industry in 2007, he built a relationship with director Makoto SHINKAIthrough financial investments for his film [5 Centimeters per Second]. In 2019,he produced the theatrical animation [My TYRANO: Together, Forever] under aunique system combining Korean investments and Japanese outsourcing. In 2023,he helped make Makoto SHINKAI’s film [Suzume] into the top-ranking Japanesemovie released in Korea, and the fourth highest ranking animation released inKorea.

Emily DEAN
Emily DEAN is a Los Angeles basedAsian-Australian filmmaker who recently directed the episode [THE VERY PULSE OFTHE MACHINE] for Volume 3 of the Emmy-award winning Netflix animated series[LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS].
Following her training at Pixar, Emily workedas a story artist on [THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE], [THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECONDPART], and [SCOOB] for Warner Bros, as well as on Sony’s Oscar winning animatedshort film [HAIR LOVE].
Emily’s independent animated short filmFORGET ME NOT, which was inspired by her family’s experience with Alzheimer’sdisease, was nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts(AACTA) award in 2012. In 2019 Emily was selected as one of Variety Magazine’s‘Top 10 Animators To Watch’ and in 2021 she was named one of Piaget’s‘Extraordinary Women’. Her live action sci fi short film [ANDROMEDA] wasawarded at several genre film festivals. In 2023 Emily won the Annie Award forBest Storyboarding TV/Media in 2023 for her work on [THE VERY PULSE OF THEMACHINE] for [LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS], Vol. 3.
Emily writes, directs and executiveproduces content for film, television, and comics under her production banner,Grade 8 Productions.

OH Seoro
He graduated from Chungkang College ofCultural Industries. His short animations [Afternoon Class] and [(OO)] earnedhim the Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award for Animated Film from StuttgartTrickfilm International Animated Film Festival in Germany. He also received thegrand prize from the Insomnia Animation Festival and received invitations andawards from numerous domestic and international festivals. He is active as anindependent animation director and freelancer. Since 2021, he has been the CEOand director of the animation studio OSROCTION, working in collaboration with Kakaoin directing, planning, and making the 2D kids series [Yellow MUZI &Friends] which ranked No. 1 on Netflix Kids. At the same time, he alsocollaborated with SAMG Entertainment as the director on the 3D transformingrobot series Metal Cardbot which ranked in the top 3% for viewership. Hecontinues to be an active member of the domestic animation industry.

PARK Jeeyoon
After graduating from California Instituteof the Arts majoring in Character Animation, she went on to work at PixarAnimated Studios (where she interned for Story Artist during her 3rd year) as afull-time Story Artist. Since then, she’s worked on many beloved films such as[Onward], [Turning Red] and the recently released [Elemental] as a Story artistand Visual Development artist. Currently, Jeeyoon is creating storyboards forvarious studios such as Netflix and also expanding to more mediums includingChildren’s Books to communicate to her audience.

BAEK Sumin
She graduated from the department ofanimation at Chungkang College of Cultural Industries. Her 2020 web animation[20-year-old Romantic Chemistry] received the Audience Prize at Indie-AniFest.She has made a wide range of animations for advertisements, and she iscurrently the director of the web animation series [Animal Partner] on theJjaltoons YouTube channel.

Dukyangso
He is a leading animation review YouTuberin Korea whose career was born from a desire to share the emotions that he feltfrom animations with other viewers. He currently has 460,000 subscribers, thehighest number of subscribers among review channels of Japanese animations.Having uploaded over 600 videos, he covers a wide range of subculture topics,including animation reviews, interviews with voice actors, graduation filmreviews, and reviews of figurines. He supports the Korean animation market andworks hard to change negative perceptions about subcultures.
