Thinking that he wanted towatch the films which he liked to see with others, Won started the screeningactivity in Cinematheques in Daegu in 1996. As one of the programs, he screenedindependent films; that is how he met the independent cinema. He establishedDaegu Independent Film Association in 2000. He was a programmer of IndieForumfrom 2000 to 2003, an independent film festival, and also worked as thesecretary-general at the Association of Korean Independent Film & Videofrom 2002 to 2007. He joined the ‘Solidarity Meeting for Independent Animation’in 2004 in order to support the establishment of Korean Independent AnimationFilmmakers Association. Now he works as the manager of Independent DistributionSupport Center, which runs IndieSpace, the independent film theater built in2007.

His works include a documentary entitledDemocracy Uprising, an animation, Achi & Ssipak, a novel, Surprise! MathAdventure of Odussem, a cartoon book, Whatcha! Protect Democracy! and others.He writes columns of “Mapping Animation” serially in New Type of KoreanVersion, and gives lectures of storytelling at Seoul Animation Center, GwangjuInformation & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, ChungKang College ofCultural Industries, Kaywon School of Art and Design and Chugye University forthe Arts.
