Bill PLYMPTON’s list of nicknames in the American independent animation world is as long as his resume: the bad boy of independent animation, the father of bizarre humor, the master of cheeky imagination and satire. In 1987, he established his studio PLYMPTOONS and made over a hundred films including both features and shorts, such as [Your Face] and [Guard Dog] which were both nominated as finalists for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. With works such as the feature-length films [I Married a Strange Person!], [Mutant Aliens], and [Idiots and Aliens] receiving awards from major film festivals around the world, Plympton has garnered recognition as a living legend in independent animation. His films present twisted perspectives on human greed and power with an original imagination and grotesque humor, in a unique style that can’t easily be copied by others. From his early films to his most recent works, the 13 films in this special collection were hand-picked by the director himself, inviting the viewer to be immersed in the brilliant creative world of an indie-animation virtuoso.
