Synopsis

This film is about the sad and depressing atmosphere and structure of Korean society which forces people to be good natured. It reveals how I felt while living and working in Korea. At times, I had to give up my voice and make sacrifices while pretending to be a good person, just like many young Koreans. We were taught to be obedient and follow the rules, which makes us feel powerless. I hope young Korean people will sympathize with my work and reflect on their own feelings and status in society.

Director's Comment

The film casts a new light on the hidden social meaning of “being a nice person” and the pressure that it causes to the individual who is forced to sacrifice their sense of self. It questions whether we are truly kind people or simply pretending to be kind out of a sense of obligation.
