Synopsis
A man enters an old bathhouse where induced by the intense heat and steam he relieves a memory of his father. Objects and patterns reappear inducing his desire to rid his father of a birthmark they both share. Their past relationship ignites.
Director's Comment
A disappearing Korean cultural space is the public bath. I would like to share this animation to deliver particular styles and contents of Korean stop-motion to the audience. Stop-motion animations are losing their ground since computer animations develop, as if the old public bath would disappear. Besides showing the public bath, I would like to deliver beauty and particularity of stop motion animations as a stop-motion auteur. This is an important purpose for this project. I, therefore, hope that many animation students will have an opportunity to try various technologies instead of computers. I wish the particularity of Korean stop-motion works could spread to international film festivals.
