Synopsis
A dog named Maro used to stay at home. Its owner is very busy. One day, the older sister of Maro’s owner leaves the door open when she goes to school. Maro follows the sister, but gets lost in a mountain. There, Maro meets a crow in a totally different situation.
Director's Comment
What would your dog think of when they stay at home alone? I sometimes see my dog, Maro sleeping on a couch like a person, and feels a sense of difference that a furry animal living in a house with people. A middle-aged dog Maro should have its life philosophy. Would they be happy in a confined house? Are they pathetic and unhappy since they are confined? What would the wild animals feel like? Would they feel free? I wanted to picture the process to understand each other, while the animals with different lives bicker over.
I wanted to ask some questions to the viewers when we face animals with different philosophies, instead of merely feeling pathetic for confined dogs. I also wanted to show the life of pets that manage to adjust themselves to human life, their sense of difference, some pathetic situations; I wanted to give the sense of relief, contrasting the world outside with their own.
I hoped to picture the story that the pets living with humans reflect their lives on their own footing, not from the human’s point of view.
