Synopsis

When two girls are kidnapped by Japanese soldiers and sent to a labor camp, terrible events unfold, but the story has a message of hope.

Director's Comment

The film’s subject is the marigold’s language of flowers, which is about happiness that is sure to arrive someday. This flower language follows through to the film’s end, and it is through this language that I wanted to convey a message of hope to the victims. Flowers are delicate and yet strong, enduring the winter to blossom in the spring. The main characters are compared to flowers in the hopes that they might similarly overcome these tragic events. In contrast, the Japanese soldiers are portrayed as snakes, being compared to symbols of avarice and evil. When the main character has a nightmare, a snake enters her body and then exits in the form of blood, as a metaphor for the acts of cruelty and merciless torture that strangle the girl.
