Synopsis

In the early 2000's when the romance-a word now faded-, was just a part of everyday life...There was a strange couple in a cafe, never stop talking to each other, even though their love had already faded. What are their true thoughts behind the smoke and scent of coffee and cigarettes?

Director's Comment

The combination of coffee and cigarettes mesmerizes people, but they are not only aromatic. They can give you bad breath, and harm your health as well. I want to tell you a story about a couple torn between staying together and quitting, just like coffee and cigarettes.

Program Note

Being drawn to a familiar scent and eating expired food will only leave you with a bellyache. There is a couple whose love has faded, and we follow their conversation like a game of chess. Beyond the scent of coffee and cigarette smoke, we find truths that are difficult to speak. In an atmosphere of early-2000s nostalgia that has yellowed like wallpaper, two people are sitting across from each other in a small cafe. Time passes awkwardly for them. Their looks and gestures speak louder than words, leaving us with a bitter lingering feeling.
