A total of 70 films were submitted to the Web Animation section this year, and following the preliminary round, 18 films have advanced to meet the audience.
Each of the submitted works, created for online screening, possessed its own distinct character and appeal, which made the process of selecting finalists far from easy. The jury examined and discussed the films around the following criteria.
First, we paid close attention to whether a work suited an online platform. Even films that demonstrated outstanding artwork and direction were, regrettably, difficult to select if they diverged from the spirit of Web Animation or exceeded the designated running time.
Second, we looked at how clearly a work's individuality came through. Many films reflected careful thought about the online viewing environment, and those with varied formats and structures — music videos, short-form pieces, series — were especially impressive.
Third, we placed importance on the distinct sensibility each work carried and on how effectively it was conveyed to the audience.
Some works tenderly comforted a wounded heart, while others carried a critical awareness that prompted reflection on the society we live in. Bearing in mind that Web Animation is open to all viewers, we also sought to select works that audiences of every age could enjoy comfortably.
While watching the submissions, we could sense the time and passion each director had devoted to completing their work, which left us with deep respect. It was truly exciting to encounter films that expanded the artistic possibilities of animation through fresh perspectives and experimentation. At the same time, in an era overflowing with fast, flashy imagery, it was heartening to find works that preserved animation's own distinct aesthetics while extending genuine warmth to their audiences.
We extend our sincere applause to all 70 directors who completed and submitted their films. We hope this submission becomes a meaningful step toward your next work, and we will continue to support and look forward to your future work.
