Last year, the Mirinae Road section showcased feature-length animations from across Asia at the festival for the first time. There were films made with both popular and experimental cinematic languages, showing us the startling diversity of the world through the lens of animated features. This year, we once again present feature-length animations that introduce us to new worlds.

There were films that everyone could enjoy together and works that used experimental materials and formats. A film using the puppet theater format posed the question of how far we can push the boundaries of animation. Above all, it was a joy to see works from various regions across Asia, including Macao, Singapore, and Turkey.

Each submission possesses its own unique charm, so we had to think long and hard about which films to introduce to our audience. The members of the jury, after long deliberation, selected animations that have their own unique voice, including works that offered simple pleasure, used diverse techniques such as cutouts and stop motion, and the first feature-length animation from Jordan. 

We know well what a difficult challenge it is to create a feature-length animation. We wish to thank everyone who submitted their cherished works to Indie-AniFest, and we await the day when we can see all of your films on the big screen.
