New Beginning of Communication, Relay-Animation

The very special program of Indie-AniFest! We recruit artists for the 10th Relay-Animation Project. Relay-Animation Project is a Collaboration work which is trying the various possibility and the means of medium, done by enthusiastic participation of various Animation Artists. In 2018, with sentimental music of electronic musician Tama Rhodes, a distinctively attractive film was made by this program. Of course, the program will be progressed with collaboration with other part of art this year again. The directors will determine the story after enough discussion, and make the film which is full of each one’s liberal view. We will appreciate your support and participation!

After [The Tortoise and the Hare], [The Water], [Money’s Travels], [Peace], [Peace Dream], [11 Colors in Peace], [Peace Road], [The Peaceful Holiday] and [The Last Message] , finally the 10th Relay-Animation is getting started. Since 2014, the artists from overseas are also participating for the program and making more diverse stories with broadened view. We expect to draw the story of every world, with people from all over the world also in this year.   

■ Target Participants and Way to Participate
- Target: Anyone who are related to Independent Animation
-  A Volume of Recruitment: About 6-7 people. No restriction with nationality, sex, and age.
-  Way to Participate: Fill in the application form and e-mail the file. ([email protected])
- Due Date: Mar 10 (Sun)



-  Standard of Selection: Selected by IndieAniFest2019 Relay-Animation Project Production Committee
-  Condition of Participation: We are just finding who will enjoy this project and festival.
                                             Also, who can meet the deadline for submission.

■ Production Guideline of Relay-Animation Project
1. 10th Relay-Animation Project
Of course, the program will have collaboration with other part of art this year. A Basic Text will be given to promote more intimate working. Artists will make their story with liberal reinterpretation and dramatization on the text.
(Which other part of art would be collaborated will be noticed soon)

2. Submission Video Format
① Running Time: 30 Seconds
② Video Format: HD Size(1920*1080), 23.97f / Non-Compressed QuickTime Movie File

3. Procedure
① Planning Phase (April – Middle of May, 7weeks)
- Determining Working Order
- Artists make Synopsis and More than 4 Representative Images showing 4steps in composition based on the Basic Text. Also complete Artwork (More than 2, First Scene and Final Scene is compulsory) in order. (5 days per an artist)

Ex) The second artist will dramatize the story that can be connected naturally with the first artist’s synopsis and image. Also, the third artist will complete storyboard considering the fore story.
*The Image should be uploaded to Official Channel of Relay-Animation to show the progress of work to other artists. )

② Production Phase (Middle of May-Middle of June, 6weeks)
After determining all scenario, have discussion with the connected artists about style and scene transition. Overall direction of production will be discussed with Project PD and the PD can request for modifying in case.

③ Post Production Phase (Middle of June-July, 6weeks)
- After the image working is done, Music and Sound working will be done together.(Discussion with Music Director will be started from the complete of scenario)
- Working discussion will be done via online (Facebook or Blog), or offline meeting.

① Feb 22, 2019(Fri): Closing the list
② First week of March, 2019: Artist Selection and Announcement
③ End of March, 2019: First Offline Meeting, Determining the order of Project Orientation
④ Beginning of April – Middle of May, 2019: Completing Storyboard
(Planning and Completing synopsis of every artist, Connecting the detailed content in order)
⑤ End of May, 2019: Second Offline Meeting (Checking each one’s Production)
⑤ End of June, 2019: Producing and Completing individual video.
⑦ Middle of July, 2019: Modifying individual video and Completing Sound and Editing.
⑧ September 2019: Premiere Screening on Indie-AniFest

■ Utilizing of the Relay-Animation Film
- Premiere Screening on Opening Ceremony of Indie-AniFest
- Indie-AniFest Online Screening and various format of screening
- Submission for Korean and International Film Festival
- Offering screening opportunity by various screening events.

■ Etc.
- The Copyright of the Relay-Animation film is owned by artist.
- The Copyright of Screening the film is co-owned by 10th Relay-Animation Project and Indie-AniFest.
- For the foreign participants, we can only support 500,000won(About 450$) at most, for plane ticket.
