We live in an era of unnaturally fast-paced trends. 

Instead of being fresh or diverse, it’s all about that next dopamine hit. 

The ones most affected by these rapidly changing times are new emerging directors.

But as we watched the submissions to the First Flight section, we realized that we didn’t need to worry after all. 

Rather, we were moved and even relieved by what we saw: directors who were unshaken by the flood of information and advancements, who were persistent in their own thoughts and perspectives, and who found pure joy in exploring and expressing fun through animation.

No matter how much the world changes, new voices carry on the tradition of “expression” unconsciously, regardless of the era, and also offer healthy new perspectives on the changing times.

We give our applause to all the directors who walk their own path amidst traditions and changes to this day.
